Frequently Asked Questions
No. Electronic waste is not permitted in the Züri-Sack (Zürich's household waste bag system). Putting e-waste in general rubbish is illegal under Swiss law and can result in fines. All electronics must be disposed of through a certified SENS or Swico collection point, or collected by a licensed service such as ZüriClean.
Collection starts from CHF 45 for a single item such as a laptop or small appliance. Mixed loads of 5–15 items start from CHF 95. All prices are fixed and confirmed in writing before we arrive. If you can transport items yourself to a SENS drop-off point, many electronics are free to dispose of there — we are always honest about this.
ZüriClean offers door-to-door e-waste collection across all Zürich Kreise and surrounding communes. Alternatively, SENS eRecycling and Swico Recycling operate free drop-off points across the city — including at Recyclinghof Werdhölzli and many retailers. We are the right choice if you need items collected from your home or if you need data deletion.
You have two main options. First, take items to a certified SENS or Swico drop-off point — free of charge for most devices due to Switzerland's VRB pre-paid recycling system. Second, book a home collection with ZüriClean — we carry everything out, handle the paperwork, and can arrange data deletion on request. The right choice depends on how many items you have and whether you can transport them.
Most e-waste collections are completed within 30–60 minutes, depending on the number of items and the access to your flat. We confirm the time window when you book. Same-week appointments are available across Zürich.
If you do not request data deletion, standard disposal does not include a data wipe. We strongly recommend arranging certified data deletion before disposal. On request, we provide hard drive wiping to DoD 5220.22-M standard or physical destruction — both with a written certificate. This is available as a clearly priced add-on when you book.
The VRB (vorgezogener Recyclingbeitrag) is a recycling fee included in the purchase price of all new electronic devices sold in Switzerland. It means that when you drop off an old device at a certified SENS or Swico collection point, there is no additional charge. However, home collection services — where we carry items out of your flat and transport them — are not free. ZüriClean charges for the collection service, not the recycling.
Yes — this is one of ZüriClean's key advantages. We are the only provider in Zürich offering both disposal and professional cleaning from a single booking. If you are moving out, we can collect your electronics and carry out a full end-of-tenancy clean in the same visit. Ask for a combined quote when you contact us.
Yes. On request, we provide an Entsorgungsnachweis — a written disposal confirmation document. This is particularly useful if your landlord requests proof at the flat handover, or if you are a business disposing of company equipment and need a record for compliance purposes.
Yes. We collect office IT equipment, servers, printers, monitors, and mixed electronics from businesses across Zürich. For business clients, we provide a written disposal record and can discuss volume pricing. Data deletion is available for all office devices — especially important for GDPR-adjacent obligations on personal data.
